I finally made it! It was a long ten hour flight, but I got to see many things. For one, I saw Miyajima Island, with the oijii shrine and all of the deer, especially one that took off with some stores merchandise. Also, the host family I am staying with is great, though they do not speak good english. The family consists of the father and mother(who both often work during the whole day), Misato(15), Haruka(14), Yuta(11) and the 1 year old dog named Ryu. I also am attending Hatsukaichinishi high school, and I made many friends who all want to show me their school. Anyways, I have tried many new foods, such as Tempura, Udon Tempura, Nomooriaki, Japanese ramen, shrimp, shellfish, some lobster, and sushi(salmon). Besides this, I am still trying to understand their language, in which I already know very little... Still, I am trying my best, and it is the start of a great experience. I hope to take many pictures, so be ready. Until later!

Hey! You finally made it online! I'm sorry that I haven't been on in a few days, but I've been busy cleaning the house and Mom had a doctor's appointment.

I'm glad and surprised to hear from you! Did you get online at school or something? I got online today and looked on my page and saw your name in the 'Recent Visitors'. I was pretty shocked!

Anyways, I am glad that you are having a good time and trying new things in Japan. I hope you can spend time with your school friends and get their emails and addresses so you can keep in touch.

I went to Wizzywigs today in Ann Arbor. The store was GONE! :faint: But I looked online to see why today, and they only moved down the street. :phew: So I will be going there with Nathan later to get more Japanese snacks and maybe some CDs.

I hope you continue to have fun in Japan and make sure you save some money so you can get some Hiroshima Momiji Manju (maple leaf cakes) to take home, fresh from the store. :aww:

We all miss you (yes, I do too)! Even Baby has been in your room a lot waiting for you to come home. If you want, I can try to be online on DeviantArt more often so we can stay in contact that way too. But I will do whatever is easiest and most cost effective for you and the host family. :)

Hope to hear from you again soon! Below are some words from Mom and Dad. :)

From Mom:  We love you and can't wait to see you! Be safe!

From Dad: Hey, we're only on our 3rd gallon of milk and 1 gallon of chocolate since you left. We've actually had 4 gallons of milk last us 2 weeks! That's hasn't happened for a verrrry long time! :wow:

I don't like dogs because they're a lot like the people I went to school with--they're dumb, loud, and will hump anything that doesn't move fast enough.

Thank you for answering me. I thought that the message would not get through because I was using a Japanese computer... Anyways, I did use a school computer for the message, since I was in computer class. Also, since then I have recieved many things from the host family. They have been paying for most of it on their own accord, though I wish I could pay for something... Now I have some Look chocolate(A La Mode flavor), Cantoloupe flavored Mousse Pocky, and a gift for mom(A Japanese doll, like the one that is in her room). I went last Sunday to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, where I saw the A-Dome and the museum, though it was very graphic and saddening...
On a different note, I have given the family most of the gifts, such as the candy and mom`s items, and some of my money(the dollar bill, dimes, quarters, etc.). I also know that on July 24 I am visiting the Mazda plant, though since my family has school or work, Mr. Mochizuki(english coordinater) will be taking me there. I have found that by the end of school I will have used over 100 dollars for the bus ride alone. :wow: Though school has been great, where I have three peoples` phone numbers so far, and I was taught some caligraphy and learning the language more by the english coordinater. I have also visited a shrine near the school with the teacher, where I got a plack with the writing of dram on the back, and a fortune telling of love in two to three years.
Overall, I am trying to learn the language, even though the family was concerned and called YFU several times... but I hope they can understand that I am excited about my stay. I have another month to go, which is a short amount of time, and I have so much to see and do. :D

Riding the bus sounds expensive, but I'm sure it has been worth it. I'm so glad that you are able to do and see so much while you're in Japan. It's cool that you got some phone numbers. Maybe you can get some addresses too.

I hope you enjoy your first time camping and cooking with the family, as well as going to the beach and whatever you get to do. I wish I was able to be there too; it sounds like you're having a great time.

I know how it is difficult to show emotion. We just turned out that way, I guess. Maybe you can have the English teacher explain it to them (or help you) in Japanese so they don't have to worry so much. :)

A fortune of love, eh? Well I hope it turns out. Everyone needs someone to talk to and to be a companion, even if sometimes they are a pain. =P

Like I said, I hope you continue top have fun in Japan and continue to make friends and learn new things. We all miss you a lot and are glad that we were able to hear from you. I understand about you not being able to call so often because of the phone cards. That's okay. :)

Nathan says hi and hopes that you are having a nice time. I'm typing this at Nathan's house, so I'm not sure if Mom or Dad have anything to add...^^;

Have fun and stay safe!

I'll wait for your call in two weeks. :) Hopefully you can get online before then but I would understand if you couldn't. :D

Also, Mom and Dad would like to be able to contact your host family through email. Do any of them have an email address? If so, Mom and Dad would like to know what it is so they can email them back and forth.

good to see you made it. Sounds like its going well (minus the natural disasters, but in japan its part of life).
I hope this trip does something for you, develop your mind, and that nonsense.

Yes, they do have an e-mail address(look at your notes). Also, this is my last week here, so I am trying to do more things with the family(it is summer vacation for 1 month, so we have some more time to go places).

Thanks for the email address. I'm sorry I could not get on sooner but I was up north in Charlevoix for a week with Nathan. I was just now able to get online. Thanks again for trying to contact me and for getting the email; it will be useful in the future I'm sure. I hope you continue to have fun, and we all miss you. We will all see you on Thursday! I hope you have fun and made a lot of friends! :)
